Jean Nidetch the founder of Weight Watchers pretty much summed it up when she said, ‘Most people don’t eat enough, of the right food at the right time.’

Our primitive, ancient ancestors, living off the land were lean and hard and wiry.

Until around 1950 our more recent ancestors had much the same body composition. Since that time, as high density manufactured food became more readily available and machines stripped movement out of our working lives we’ve become fatter, and fatter, and fatter.

In fact there is a constant struggle going on between our need to move more and more and eat wisely and the march of science and technology that keeps driving us to eating more and more manufactured food and moving less and less.

If you want to know what too little movement and too much manufactured food does to you, look no further than the backside of the Western World.

So what’s the right food: what do we need to eat more of? Answer, adequate fat, protein, vegetables and fruit.

What’s the wrong food; what do we need to eat less of? Answer, the garbohydrates, (yep, that’s a ‘g’, not a ‘c’) energy dense, manufactured food that’s made up of combinations of fat, floor and sugar.
