If you've heard it once, you've heard it a thousand times, 'You are what you eat.'  (Some of you will also know what happens if you don't eat!) In our culture we don't take much notice of the ageless maxim, choosing to stuff flour, sugar and bubbles down our throats as though there were no tomorrow.

 

The results speak for themselves.

 

Despite what the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare says about it, the health of Australians is getting worse.

 

People don't care; so what if they get laid up with a host of metabolic dysfunctions. Medical care is cheap; in fact it's free if you go to a public hospital.

 

The Governments of Australia don't care, choosing to cover up the mess by flushing $40B or so down the medical black hole each year.

 

Anyway, Kevin Keegan sent this chart along for us all to have a look at. Whilst I can't speak for the veracity of it, it looks pretty good to me. Of course you might find it more convenient to stock up on Lipitor, Prilosec, Diabex, Aspro, Gaviscon, Prozac, Vioxx or Anusol!

7 DON'TS AFTER A MEAL

Don't smoke - Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of   cancer is higher).

 

 

*

Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

 

 

*

Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid.This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

 

 

*

Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.

 

 

*

Don't have a bath or a swim - a bath and a swim cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease.  This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

 

 

*

Don't go for a walk - You've all hear about not going for a swim for an hour after you've eaten, the same thing applies to any vigorous exercise. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

 

 

*

Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

 

SOMETHING FOR DADS

It was father's day last weekend (or was it the week before?) and children all over the world were ringing up their dads to wish them a happy day.  So here's a little something for any dad who's ever had a daughter. Don't click on the link, unless you want a lump in your throat, a tear in your eye and a smile on your face.
