I once heard the great public speaker, James Rohn say that a lot people rarely experience happiness, joy or ecstasy in their lives. (In fact, he said, most people have trouble spelling 'ecstasy', let alone experiencing it!)

One thing's for certain though, the Geelong boys were pretty happy at 5 o'clock last Saturday afternoon.

As in sport, as in life.

Sport is a wonderful metaphor for life. It's why children should be encouraged to play sport, to learn some of life's important lessons, relatively painlessly. And it's a good reason for adults to play sport, to continually remind themselves of some of those lessons.

Winners versus losers

It's one of those times of the year when you can see the difference between winners and losers.

A couple of years ago the Geelong Football Club set itself a big goal. There's no bigger sporting goal in this country than winning an grand final. It's so big that 100,000 people come to cheer you on.

As well as the grinning, one of the side effects of winning is huge amounts of energy.

If you lack energy, maybe it's some part of your personal ecosystem telling you that it's time you kicked a few more goals. Whilst you might not instantly recognise what part of your body is giving you the message, drowning out the message isn't going to do much for you. All that happens is the message gets louder. You feel worse. Steer clear of people who specialize in drowning out the messages that your body is sending you.

In the mean time stay tuned, highly tuned and remember that if you know where you're going, it only takes one small step to start a long, successful and prosperous journey.
