It's official, the Heart Foundation is running amok. If you thought it was bad enough when they got their palm greased by McDonalds think again. They've joined the dieticians and jumped into (an increasingly crowded) bed with Nestles?
They've just given the tick to NesQuik Plus. NesQuik Plus only contains 60% sugar, compared with the hard stuff, - NesQuik chocolate 80% - NesQuik Banana 98.2% - NesQuik Strawberry 98.8%
You couldn't have expected a better selection of junk food than if Billy Bunter himself had been on the selection panel. If it's manufactured and delivered in packets, tins, cardboard boxes and plastic bags and if it comes with a back hander, there's a good chance the Heart Foundation will run an enthusiastic ruler over it.
According to Nestles, 'Nestlé recognises the importance of the Heart Foundation Tick to help make healthier choices easier choices. That’s why the following Nestlé products (yep, all Nestle's products) carry the Heart Foundation Tick.'
MAGGI Range MAGGI Spaghetti - Cheese flavour MAGGI Spaghetti - Tomato flavour MAGGI Spaghetti - Cheese & Ham flavour
NESQUIK Range NESQUIK Plus - Chocolate NESQUIK Plus - Strawberry
PAPA GIUSEPPI'S Range PAPA GIUSEPPI'S Tasty Balance Pizza - Corn & Chicken Pizza PAPA GIUSEPPI'S Tasty Balance Pizza - Tropical Supremo Pizza
UNCLE TOBYS Range
So there you go. Eat more junk food so that this front for the medical industry, (masquerading as a charity) can cream more money over to their mates in the sheltered workshops for the academically gifted to conduct more research into the body system dysfunctions caused effects of junk food.
HEART FOUNDATION SPEAK - from the Heart Foundations website
'The Tick Program is the Heart Foundation’s guide to helping people make better food choices quickly and easily. Tick foods meet the Heart Foundation’s strict nutrition standards for nutrients such as saturated and trans fats, sodium, kilojoules (calories) and fibre.'
No mention of the deleterious effects of the two white powders - flour and sugar - still off the Heart Foundation radar!
'Products with the Tick have been tested by an independent laboratory, and are routinely spot checked to ensure that they continue to comply with the Tick's requirements.'
An independent laboratory, eh! All laboratories are independent; some are more independent than others.
Want to know about 'Better food choices for you and your family' click here and view the full list of Nestles foods promoted by the Heart Foundation. There's gold in them thar packets.
'For more information on the Tick Program click here.'
'If you are a food manufacturer interested in finding out nutrition criteria for a particular food category, please contact us by calling 1300 36 27 87 or email.'
'In setting nutrition criteria for the Heart Foundation Tick, we create maximum allowable levels for the unhealthier saturated and trans fats, salt and kilojoules, and minimum levels for healthier nutrients such as fibre. View a more detailed explanation of how this works across the fifty categories in the supermarket. '
'On Heart Foundation Tick meals eaten out the process goes even further, reviewing not only what's in the meal but also the way that the meal is prepared and cooked.'
If this is 'Australia's leading food approval program', then heaven spare us from the worst.
If 'Nine out of ten Australians trust Tick to help them make healthy (food) choices', then 9 out of ten Australians want their head read!
Here at Fit and Healthy Online we're about to launch the junk food tick program. We're inviting the manufacturers of junk food to pay 50 Grand a pop for us to put the junk food tick on the outside of the packet and add them to a list on our website.
If, in the unlikely event that you are a junk food manufacturer and this newsletter flashes across your screen, contact us immediately and we'll take 50 Grand off you and give you the authority to use the junk food tick on your packets

Most people find it hard to talk out of both sides of their mouth at the same time. It would appear that Nestles the National Heart Foundation and the Dieticians society (Smart Eating) don't have that problem.
Ring them up and ask them how they do it. You might learn a thing or two.
In the mean time stay tuned, highly tuned and remember just the hamburger on its own is bad; a hamburger, orange juice and a salad is good!
Regards
John Miller
