Advanced Diagnostics is a leading Australian imaging, diagnostic and advice centre. Our head office is located in Newcastle, Australia, with the internet now bringing our imaging diagnostics advice to an Australian and world-wide clientele.
Our clients are individuals and their medical practitioners.
IMAGING AND DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE People come to us for imaging because they have a body system dysfunction.
What's unique about our service is that we're not only committed to providing our clients with images that provide information pertaining to the imaged area, we're also, in some instances, able to provide out clients with information about their dysfunction and links to websites which will assist them to work out
a. the likely cause(s) of their dysfunction and
b. some of the treatments used throughout the world that may fix it.
The information we link people to is not infallible. Clients are free to accept or reject the advice we link them to.
HEALTH AND FITNESS MANIFESTO Because we believe the body is an ecosystem we are holistic in our approach to assisting our clients to restore poor function to good. We believe that body systems are inter-related and that many parts work together to create health and wellness in other parts.
We have found that just providing people with a diagnostic image and a few analytical comments hasn't led to the full utilization of our skills of both analysis and treatment.
Because we see so many people with the same complaints, and because we see so many people returning because the treatment they have been given hasn't worked, we've decided to take the next step, not only describing what has happened (that's the easy part), but assisting our clients to search for the cause of their dysfunction and recommending treatment that will restore the body to normal, healthy function.
This diagnostic imaging service applies particularly to musculo-skeletal dysfunction, the imaging of which takes up over 50% of consultations.
Our approach to health is outlined in our health and fitness manifesto. We believe it is a big ask in our community expecting to be healthy without keeping yourself fit.
Many of the people who come to us are neither fit, nor in good health and our strongest encouragement is for them to do the things that make them fit and healthy. Many of these things are simple and inexpensive. All they take is a bit of discipline, persistence and time.
We believe it is a big ask expecting to get better by having someone do something to you; sooner or later you have to do something to yourself. We can suggest a program but we can't do it for you.
With respect to musculo-skeletal dysfunction, the rub down, crunch, hot wheat bag and electric shock may speed up the rehab process but they don't take the place of the strength and flexibility exercises (and in some cases dietary changes) people need to do for themselves.
Furthermore, we believe that the healing process begins when people take responsibility for their dysfunction.
LINKS We provide medical practitioners and individuals alike with access to our links, the places where we have gone for expert advice. Some of the advice on these links is highly technical others is easily readable by both GP's and individuals alike.
We have chosen a wide range of sites, in the belief that if treatment works for some people it may work for others.
ADVICE We advise out clients to be circumspect about what they read on our own site and on the sites we have links to and keep in mind that it is only advice.
We don't guarantee that anything will work, just suggest that because it has worked for others it may work for you.
We believe that all medical evidence is selective. Some is more selective than others. We know this because as science marches on, yesterday's evidence is frequently superseded by today's and today's evidence will in turn be superseded by tomorrow's. Plus medical research is, generally speaking, conducted in silos. Research is carried out in one silo and bags the research findings from other silos.
On the other hand, holistic medical practice takes the research from many silos and puts it together so that treatments from a number of silos will all contribute a percentage of the healing factors needed to stimulate the body's own recuperative power, speed up the rehab process and restore poor function to good.
Thus, in this day and age it is frequently difficult to expect one treatment and one treatment alone to restore body parts too good health.
Certainly the use of junk pharmaceuticals which simply mask pain are of minimal value in the restoration of good function.
What we have done is comb the world looking for those therapies that seem to have worked for significant groups of people and suggesting to others that they try them.
Some may work for you, some may not. Some may have side effects peculiar to some individuals and not to others.
Furthermore, research in the future may find some of the treatments now suggested as being effective and safe are indeed not effective and safe. We can only work within the bounds of current knowledge, medical and other.
There are no guarantees. However, on the balance of probabilities getting yourself healthy, adopting a regular and systematic aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility program, doing specialist exercises for your condition and supplementing your diet with a range of vitamins, minerals and nutraceuticals made speed up the recovery process.
We encourage our clients to do the things that fit and healthy people have done throughout the ages to keep themselves fit and healthy.
We encourage people to consider trying a wide range of modalities to restore poor function to good - on the basis that if the treatment/therapy worked for some people it may work for them.
We believe the advantage of doing something usually outweighs the cost of doing nothing.
BOOKS We recommend a range of books that are available through our bookstore.
SEMINARS We provide seminars for our clients based in the Hunter Region of NSW and conduct musculo-skeletal and other fitness training clinics.
