I've had a crook back myself, but in 2000, when I really got stuck into the right exercises it went from about 10/100 to 97/100, (on a scale where 0 is painful in the extreme and 100 feels absolutely fantastic). 97% pain free's not bad, hey!

If you've ever had a crook back where it hurt to sneeze or cough, where you had trouble leaning over the wash basin to brush your teeth you'll know what I mean. However, every crisis presents an opportunity to gain insight into what we need to do to change the situation.

My back got better because of the information I gained from reading books, listening to what other people had done to fix themselves up and spending a few days at the Egoscue Clinic in San Diego. In fact, I wouldn't be in as good a shape as I'm in now and I wouldn't have written HOW TO FIX UP A CROOK BACK if it hadn't been for the impact that the Egoscue Clinic had on my rehabilitation.

Hippocrates said something to the effect that the physician who's had the disease speaks with much more authority! As well as being a physical educator, I'm pleased to pass on to you some of the insight I've gained as my back got better.

At Back Pain Books you'll find a welter of books and resources that will help you keep your back and neck in good shape.

I've tried to weed out junk, discriminating in favour of those books that I think have some substance and books containing original thought.

If you come across a good book which you feel I should add to the list, please let me know.
